Matt Girouard Joins Volleyball Staff as Assistant Coach

WILMINGTON, Ohio – Wilmington College Head Volleyball Coach Andy Riesenberg has announced the hiring of Matt Girouard as an assistant coach.

"I'm very excited to bring Matt on board here at Wilmington," Riesenberg said. "His energy on the court and enthusiasm for the game will be a huge asset to our program. Additionally, he's had the chance to work with some of the brightest minds in the game at the University of Dayton and the University of Wisconsin."

Girouard comes to WC from Archbishop Alter High School where he served as an assistant coach for the last two seasons. He worked closely with defensive specialists and all backrow players specifically on serve receive and defensive roles. Girouard also aided the head coach in planning practice, providing scouting reports and watching game film.

Prior to his time in the high school ranks, Girouard made stops at Urbana University, Wisconsin and Dayton. As a Badger, he aided Head Coach Kelly Sheffield in guiding UW to a 31-3 overall record, a Big Ten Conference championship and an appearance in the NCAA Division I quarterfinals.

Girouard is a 2013 graduate of Dayton with a degree in communications focusing specifically on journalism and electronic media.
