Women's Track and Field Begins Season in Springfield

(SPRINGFIELD, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's track & field team opened up their 2023-24 season at the Tiger Opener, hosted by Wittenberg University Saturday afternoon. The meet was unscored, as the Quakers had several athletes competing.

Leading the Quakers was Meghan Cory, who picked up their lone victory of the afternoon, in the mile, with a time of 5:45.75, over eight seconds better than her nearest competitor.

In the weight throw, the Quakers had three athletes finish in the Top-10, out of 31 throwers. Lucy Trout led the team with a mark of 13.96m, on her final throw, to finish in fourth. Camaya Calloway finished sixth at 13.28m, and Abby Lodewyck was ninth with a toss of 12.38m.

Haley Cook finished 17th in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:02.69. Hayden Setty was 10th at 2:33.34 in the 800 Meter Run. Bella Stevens finished sixth in the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 12:50.16, while her teammate Sarah Balliett finished right behind her at 12:53.20 in seventh place.

What's Up Next

The Quakers have a lengthy break before their next meet. They will be back in action at the MSJ Invite on January 20th, 2024. The event is hosted by Mount St. Joseph University.
