Women's soccer falls, 3-2

ALLIANCE, OH – For the second straight game, the Wilmington College women's soccer team was able to get more shots than its opponent, but it didn't result in a victory. The Quakers took 10 more shots, 17-7, than Mount Union. However, the Purple Raiders made the most of their chances, posting the 3-2 victory Saturday in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

Mount Union scored on their first three shots, including its only two in the first half.

After falling behind 2-0, sophomore Brooke Lamb (Waynesville, OH/Clinton-Massie) got Wilmington on the board in the 40th minute. The Quakers took its one-goal deficit into halftime, but quickly fell back into a two-goal hole as the Purple Raiders scored in the 47th minute.

Freshman Lauren Lewis (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington) got the game back to a one-goal contest in the 66th minute off a pass from senior Sarah Watters (Cincinnati, OH/Turpin). However, Wilmington couldn't get the equalizer.

Sophomore Taylor Franklin (Delaware, OH/Rutherford B. Hayes) allowed three goals with no saves in the loss.

Wilmington (7-4-1) travels to Capital 4 p.m. Wednesday in OAC play.
