ANDERSON, IN – Eight different Lady Quakers scored as the Wilmington College women's soccer team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 10-0 victory over Anderson at the Raven/Spartan Classic Friday. It was the most goals scored in a game since the 2003 season opener against Waynesburg.

"It's a good way to start the tournament," said head coach Steve Spirk. "We were able to get a lot of people in the game which is good for team chemistry."

Five of the eight players recorded their first goals of the season, three of them – Lauren Lewis (Wilmington, OH/Wilmington), Amber Kiley (Cincinnati, OH/Oak Hills) and Erika Good (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) – scored the first goals of their college careers. Senior Sarah Watters (Cincinnati, OH/Turpin), senior Kayla Falkenbach and freshman Liz Elson (Waynesville, OH/Waynesville) all scored in the Wilmingon rout.

Senior Rachel Gutowski (Petoskey, Mich./Petoskey) opened the scoring with goals in the fourth and 10th minutes, respectively. Kiley finished the game with five points as she had a hand on the last three goals of the contest. She had two goals and assisted on the goal by sophomore Brooke Lamb (Waynesville, OH/Clinton-Massie).

While the offense will get all of the hype, the Wilmington defense shouldn't get overlooked. For the fourth straight game, the Lady Quakers registered a shutout. Sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Franklin (Delaware, OH/Rutherford B. Hayes) recorded three saves in posting her second shutout of the season.

"Everyone is playing well," Spirk said. "Our defense is very organized and we are playing well."
Wilmington will play Manchester 3 p.m. Saturday in the second game of the Raven/Spartan Classic.
