Wilmington gets past Marietta

MARIETTA – The Wilmington College women's soccer team used two first-half goals en route to the 2-1 victory Saturday over Marietta in Ohio Athletic Conference action. It was Wilmington's third straight win.

The Fightin' Quakers peppered the Marietta defense with 22 shots, 13 which were on goal Saturday.

Sophomore Camille Gentille (Brownsburg, IN/Brownsburg) tallied her third goal of the season in 29th minute. Junior Lauren Price (Xenia, OH/Waynesville) was credited with the assist. Four minutes later, freshman Rachelle Bowen (Xenia, OH/Xenia) dribbled into the 18-yard box then beat the keeper with a shot to the left post.

WC lost its bid for its 11th shutout of the season when Marietta scored in the 83rd minute.

Freshman Sarah Stauffer (Beavercreek, OH/Beavercreek) recorded three saves in improving to 6-3-1 on the season.

Wilmington (11-5-1 overall, 4-3 OAC) finishes the season with two consecutive home games, starting 7 p.m. Tuesday against Ohio Northern. WC wraps up the season 7 p.m. Saturday against John Carroll.
