Men's Soccer Takes on Manchester Friday in the Kiwanis Classic

GAME PROGRAM - MANCHESTER

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's soccer team (1-0-0) is set to take on the Manchester University Spartans (0-1-0) in Williams Stadium at 7 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Manchester. The Quakers head into fridays match coming off of a season opening victory against Earlham. Manchester looks to bounce back after allowing three second half goals in an opening night loss to Trine.

The Coaches: Alex Van der Sluijs is in his fourth year leading Wilmington's men's soccer team. The 2007 alumnus, who was a three-time First Team All-OAC selection and a member of the program's only team to win an OAC title in 2004, got the program within a shootout victory of playing for an OAC Tournament title in the spring of 2021. He worked at Defiance College for seven seasons. Chad Brooks is in his first year leading the Spartans after serving as a Spartan assistant coach for four years. 

The Players: Yusef Muqtadir looks to continue the hot start to his senior year after a busy wednesday night that saw him accrue seven shots, four shots on goal and one goal. Senior goalkeeper Felix Maurer seeks to claim his second clean sheet of the young season. Sophomore Cory Mitchell is the lone goal scorer for the Manchester side.
