Women's Track & Field Ties for Fifth at Pioneer Open

RESULTS

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's track & field team rung in the New Year with a fifth-place finish at the Pioneer Open hosted by Marietta College on Saturday.

The Fightin' Quakers tied with host Marietta for fifth place with 56 total points. Fellow Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) member Capital University ended the meet with three more points while West Virginia Wesleyan University won the meet with 101.5 points.

Two Wilmington individuals topped the 5,000-meter run as Milena Wahl (19:41.91) won the event and Katie Hughes (20:48.19) took second. Sydney Yontz won the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:30.08. Those three also teamed up with Emma Burke to win the distance medley relay by crossing the finish line in 13:54.33.

Cheyenne Rhodes was the other Quaker in track events to place, taking fifth in the 500-meter run (1:29.85).

In field events, Kayli Sullivan placed in both the shot put and weight throw, taking sixth with a mark of 35' 1" in the former and seventh with a heave of 44' 3 ½" in the later. Keva Cox registered a seventh-place finish in the women's high jump with a of 4' 9 ¾" while Jenna Henneman took eighth in the pole vault (9' 2 ¼").

Wilmington returns to action next weekend at the OAC-NCAC-HCAC Challenge at Wittenberg University.
