Women's Track & Field Wins Rick Meindl Invitational

BEXLEY, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's track & field team claimed its first team victory of the 2019-20 indoor season by winning the Rick Meindl Invitational hosted by Capital University on Friday evening.

Wilmington finished with 132.5 points, beating runner-up Muskingum University by 16 points. In the final indoor tune-up before the 2020 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships, the Fightin' Quakers also beat host Capital, Marietta College and Baldwin Wallace University.

The Fightin' Quakers had four individual performances win events on Friday. Emma Burke won both the 400-meter dash (1:03.88) and the 60-meter hurdles (9.53 seconds) while teammate Sidney Fields finished two spots behind in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.34 seconds. In distance events, Sydney Yontz finished the 1,000-meter run in 3:20.07 for first-place honors while Milena Wahl also crossed the finish line in first in her event, the mile run, with a mark of 5:26.51.

In field events, WC recorded two third-place finishes with Jenna Henneman's mark of 10' in the pole vault and Madison Dietz's leap of 14' 10 ½" in the long jump.

Wilmington won both relay events it entered into as Burke, Fields, Cheyenne Rhodes and Miranda Gibson won the 4-x-200-meter relay by over four seconds with a time of 1:53.20. Wahl and Yontz teamed up with Kayci Johnson and Katie Hughes to cross the finish line in 11:11.86 in the 4-x-800-meter relay.

The Quakers head to Marietta for the OAC Indoor Championships next Friday and Saturday.
