WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's soccer team (3-5-1) kicks off conference play this Saturday in Williams Stadium at 5 p.m. against Heidelberg University (7-1-0).

The Teams: Wilmington and Heidelberg. Wilmington enters Saturday's contest winning three of its last four games. Heidelberg lost in their season opener and never looked back, winning seven straight to enter conference play. 

The Coaches: Steve Spirk returns to coach his 30th year for the Wilmington women's soccer team. Spirk has led the Quakers to six NCAA Division III Tournament appearances including five berths in the regional semifinal ("Sweet 16") round. Six Wilmington teams have claimed regular season conference titles under Spirk's tutelage including three OAC titles in a span of four years from 2000-03. Madalynn McLaughlin is the interim head coach for Heidelberg. It is her first year at Heidelberg after graduating in 2020 from Otterbein University.

The Players: Wilmington sports a balanced offense with Maddie Scott and Heidi Edens both scoring twice for the Quakers in non-conference play. Five additional Quakers have found the back of the net one time, Tiffany Hayes, Elizabeth Matthews, Ema Menges, Courtney Ryan and Jenna Victor. Lauren Galloway has kept a clean sheet in her last four games for the Quakers. Tandem Audrey Kaufman and Madi Lause account for 16 goals in eight games for Heidelberg.
