WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College softball team will close its 2023 campaign with a pair of Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) weekend series against Otterbein University and John Carroll University.

The Schedule: The Quakers will host the Cardinals for a Senior Day series beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday before traveling to University Heights for a pair of contests against the Blue Streaks slated for 1 p.m. on Sunday.

The Teams: Wilmington, Otterbein and John Carroll (JCU). The Quakers enter the game with a 13-19 overall record and a 1-13 mark in league contests after a pair of defeats to the University of Mount Union on Saturday. The Cardinals are 15-16-1 in 2023 and boast an even 8-8 OAC record after splitting a series with Muskingum University last Saturday. The Blue Streaks are 16-14 on the season and 4-10 in league contests having most recently swept Penn State University-Behrend on April 27.

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 16th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. The winningest softball coach in school history, she also heads the College's coaching minor. Floyd has led the Quakers to the program's first winning season with a 20-16 record in 2013. Alex Lagesse is in her first season as JCU's head softball coach. She has spent time at Providence College and the University of Michigan under legendary head coach Carol Hutchins. Bruce Anderson, formerly an assistant at JCU, is in his second season at Otterbein.

The Hitters: A trio of Quakers - Judaea Wilson, McKenna Archey and Lindsey Carter - hit over a .380 clip with Wilson's .405 batting average leading the way. Logann Julian and Samantha Schwab have combined to drive in 41 runs. Carter leads WC in stolen bases with 11. Caroline Heller leads the Otterbein offense with a .371 batting average and 11 doubels while both Talor Baran and Megan Payne have drive in 16 runs. Mackenzie Stease has a .345 batting average for John Carroll and is one of four Blue Streaks, joined by Alyssia Carmichael, Kaylyn Odelli and Kendal Trunzo, to have drive in at least 10 runs. 

The Pitchers: Five Wilmington pitchers have logged at least 27 innings with fifth-year senior Alexis Stringfellow leading the bunch at 45.1 innings. Izy Rothrock leads the staff, which carries a 4.74 ERA, with 38 strikeouts. Bryn Grabowski is the ace of the Otterbein staff as she boasts a 1.98 ERA in 92 innings with 99 strikeouts. Danielle Orendi and Brianna Callow have both pitched over 75 innings for the Blue Streaks and have ERAs under 3.00.

Series History: Wilmington is 8-24 against Otterbein and 6-20 against John Carroll since the 2009 season. The teams have split the last tseason seasons. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
