Softball Travels to Anderson on Tuesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College softball team opens the week with a non-conference doubleheader at Anderson University (Indiana) on Tuesday. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Anderson. The Quakers enter the series with a 9-5 overall record having split a home-opening twinbill with Bluffton University on Wednesday. Both of WC's weekend series were postponed due to weather. The Ravens, who have also had contests ponstponed because of rain, are 0-8 after a pair of defeats at the hands of Alma College on Sunday.

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 16th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. The winningest softball coach in school history, she also heads the College's coaching minor. Floyd has led the Quakers to the program's first winning season with a 20-16 record in 2013. Tony Holloway is in his 39th season as a member of the Anderson staff including his 16th as head coach.

The Hitters: The top of Wilmington's lineup has delivered and in a big way as Judaea Wilson, Lindsey Carter and Logann Julian alll boast batting averages over .430 with Wilson leading the way at an astounding .544 clip. The Rutherford B. Hayes High School alumna leads the Quakers in in hits (31) and runs scored (19) while Julian has a team-best 17 RBIs. Jayden Brown and Faith Muterspaugh both have over a .370 batting average and have tallied a half-dozen hits or more for the Ravens.

The Pitchers: Three Wilmington pitchers - Alexis Stringfellow, Izzy Rothrock and Avree Entler - have pitched at least 20 innings while Stringfellow's 2.20 ERA and 28.2 innings leading the way. Rothrock has struck out 21 batters and is one of two Quakers, joined by Entler, to tally a save. Molly Buck and Lexi Rankin have both logged double-digit innings for the Ravens, who carry a 10.50 ERA as a staff.

Series History: This will be the first meeting between Anderson and Wilmington in the last 15 seasons.
