Softball Heads to Capital, Hosts Miami-Hamilton This Week

GAME PROGRAM - MU-H (to come)

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College softball team has a pair of mid-week series this week against both Capital University and Miami University-Hamilton.

The Schedule: Wilmington will travel to Capital for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) series scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. on Wednesday. The Quakers will then return home to host Miami-Hamilton for a twinbill beginning at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

The Teams: Wilmington, Capital and Miami-Hamilton. The Quakers bring an 11-15 overall record into the week as well as an 1-9 OAC mark having most recently split a twinbill with league-leading Marietta College on Saturday. The Comets are 10-14 and 2-8 in league games after splitting a series at home against The University of Mount Union. The Harriers are 6-18 on the season and most recently played Alice Lloyd University on Sunday.

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 16th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. The winningest softball coach in school history, she also heads the College's coaching minor. Floyd has led the Quakers to the program's first winning season with a 20-16 record in 2013. Andrea Nagy, formerly an NCAA Division I student-athlete at Cleveland State University, is in her fourth season as Capital's head coach while Dave Wolferst is in his first year at Miami-Hamilton.

The Hitters: A trio of Quakers - Judaea Wilson, Lindsey Carter and McKenna Archey - hit over a .400 clip with Wilson's 42 hits and four triples. Carter and Archey have the squad's home runs while Logann Julian has drive in 21 runs for the Quakers. Capital also has three players - Lexie Leggett, Megan Mlinaric and Kyleigh Kirby - who hit over the .400 mark. Leggett has launched a dozen home runs and drive in 26 total runs for the Comets. Statistics for Miami-Hamilton were not available.

The Pitchers: Four Wilmington pitchers - Avree Entler, Alexis Stringfellow, Hillary Huffer and Izzy Rothrock - have pitched 30-plus innings and have ERAs under 4.50. Rothrock, who got the win against Marietta, has struckout 29 batters to lead the Quaker pitching staff. Brianna Shearer has a 3.57 ERA with 68.2 innings as the Capital ace. She has an even 5-5 record with 58 strikeouts. Statistics for Miami-Hamilton were not available.

Series History: Wilmington is 7-21 against Capital since the 2009 season, but won both matchups last season. The Quakers and Herriers will be meeting for the first time over a decade on Thursday. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
