Burnam Wins 400m Hurdles, Men's Track & Field Ninth at OAC Championships

ADA, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's outdoor track and field team competed in the final day of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championship Meet on Saturday. After day one, the Fightin' Quakers were in tenth place with seven points. In today's competition, the Quakers were able to move up two spots to finish eighth overall with 39 points.

On the track, Pierce Burnam was the team's top performer. Burnam was crowned OAC Champion in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.38. He also competed in the 110-meter hurdles where he finished seventh with a time of 15.43. Not only did he excel on the track, but Burnam also snagged fifth-place in the triple jump with a distance of 12.83 meters.

AJ Hightower also turned in impressive finishes on the track. He finished fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.18. He then went on to compete in the finals of the 200-meter dash where he earned ninth-place with a time of 22.45.

The 4-x-400-meter relay team consisting of Burnam, Hightower, Aaron Koch, and Elliot Phillimore raked in several points with their fifth-place finish (3:25.31). The 4-x-100-meter relay made up of Burnam, Hightower, Koch, and Adam Knaub placed sixth with a time of 43.59.

In the field events, Kalvin Butts led the way, earning fourth in the hammer throw with a heave of 53.73 meters.

Antone Truss earned ninth-place in the triple jump with a distance of 12.66 meters while Joe Holcomb earned tenth in the shot put with a mark of 14.14 meters.

Wilmington heads to the Indiana Invitational hosted by Indiana University Bloomington on Friday.
