Men's Track and Field to Compete at Two Locations This Weekend

WILMINGTON, Ohio- The Wilmington College men's outdoor track and field team will compete in two locations this weekend. The majority of the team will head to the Mount Saint Joseph Invitational hosted by Mount Saint Joseph University on Saturday, April 21. Competition is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.

Kalvin Butts will be representing the Fightin' Quakers at the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State University on Friday while Antone Truss and Pierce Burnam will represent the Quakers at that location on Saturday. Competition for this event is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Friday and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 17th season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's track and field teams. Combs has been named Coach of the Year, twice by the Heartland Athletic Conference, and once by the OAC. In 2002, he led the men's indoor team to a sixth-place finish at NCAA DIII Championships.

WC Student-Athletes to Watch: Coming off a successful weekend and traveling to Mount Saint Joseph University is AJ Hightower. He led the team on the track in the sprint events at the All-Ohio Championships. Alex Tillapaugh will look to score points for the team in the javelin throw, bettering his finish from the Jenna Strong Invitational two weeks ago. Cameron Phelps hopes to lead the team in the distance events.

Traveling to Jesse Owens are Kalvin Butts on Friday, and Antone Truss and Pierce Burnam on Saturday.
