Men's Track and Field Fifth After Day One Season Opener

ATLANTA, Georgia - The Wilmington College men's track and field team opened the outdoor season Friday afternoon at the Emory Invitational hosted by Emory University. At the conclusion of the first day of competition, the Fightin' Quakers sit in fifthmplace (out of 23 teams) with one more day of competition remaining.

On the track, Pierce Burnam led the team, securing the team's only first-place finish, running a 54.19 in the 400-meter hurdles.

Kalvin Butts led the way for the team in the throwing events, earning second-place in the hammer throw with a toss of 54.01 meters. Joe Holcomb also turned in a top-ten finish in the event, throwing 38.97 meters for a ninth-place finish.

In the high jump, Antone Truss took second place, clearing a height of 2.00 meters.

The final day of competition is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. tomorrow (March 24).
