Wilmington College's men's track and field team member Antone Truss qualified for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet, hosted by North Central College on Friday and Saturday in Naperville, Illinois, the NCAA announced.
To be selected to compete in the national championship meet, an individual must be in the top 15 (men) or 17 (women) for their event. Truss qualified in the high jump by clearing 2.07-meters at the Last Chance Meet hosted by Ohio Northern University last weekend.
This is his first time qualifying for the national stage.
"Antone has been very focused and worked really hard to get to the national indoor meet," said Wilmington College head coach Ron Combs. "He's done a great job all season long. At the start of the season, we talked about it as a goal, and as the season progressed his confidence got better and better as making it became a reality."
Truss is seeded eighth and will compete 11 a.m. Saturday.
