@DubC_XCTR Men capture third at Otterbein

 

DELAWARE- The Wilmington College men's track and field team competed in an invitational at Otterbein University Saturday. The entire team has not competed together since early December, but despite this, the Fightin' Quakers saw several high, place finishes. Many athletes advanced to finals, helping the team to finish third out of nine competing teams, with 79 points.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Senior Travis Scheadler (Goshen, OH/Goshen) and freshmen Adam Knaub, Kaner Butler (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs), and Aaron Koch (Goshen, OH/Goshen) joined together for the 4x200-meter relay and finished second with a time of 1:35.81.

  • Butler also competed in the triple jump, and finished first of a Wilmington sweep in the event, with a distance of 13.23 meters. Junior Pierce Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) and junior Antone Truss (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs) completed the sweep, finishing second (12.81m) and third (11.87m), respectively.

  • Koch ran in for fifth place in the 60-meter hurdles final with a time of 9.08, matching his prelims time.

  • Burnam clenched a first place win for the Fightin' Quakers in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:09.46.

  • Truss also competed in the long jump and the high jump, finishing second in both. He jumped a distance of  6.07m in the long jump, and cleared a height of 1.99m in the high jump.

  • Junior Kalvin Butts (St. John's, MI/St. John's) rounded out the high finishes for the Fightin' Quakers, achieving  a fifth-place finish for Wilmington in the weight throw with a distance of 14.46m.
