Men's Swimming gets first-ever win over JCU

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH – A fast start and solid swims throughout the meet were enough for the Wilmington College men's swim team to post their first victory over John Carroll University, 102-101.

"When you win by one point, it was a team effort," said WC head coach Trip Breen. "Swimming at the college level is truly a team sport. It's fun to see a team come together for each other."

Wilmington opened the meet with a victory in the 200 Medley relay and then finished 1-2 in the 1,000. Sophomore Mason Harris (Westerville, OH/Westerville Central) swam the 1,000 free in the time of 10:57.44 for the victory. Senior Corbin Hellwarth (Celina, OH/Parkway) sealed the WC victory with his win in the 100 backstroke. Hellwarth covered the yardage in 1:03.51.

Junior Mikey Spraul (Cincinnati, OH/Princeton) won both his individual events and got the Quakers medley relay team off to a fast start as they won the event. Spraul won the 100 butterfly in the time of 53.66 and claimed the 100 backstroke with a time of 54.40.

Wilmington won't return to action until January 19 when the Quakers host Mount Union.
