Football Faces Marietta on the Road Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College football team continues its quest for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) victory as the Fightin' Quakers travel Marietta College for a 1:30 p.m. game on Saturday.

The Teams: Wilmington and Marietta. The Quakers are 1-4 overall and 0-4 in OAC competition after falling at No. 1 The University of Mount Union 63-7 on Saturday. The Pioneers are off to a 5-0 start after defeating Heidelberg University 38-34 on Saturday.

The Coaches: Bryan Moore, a 1999 graduate of Hiram College, begins his second season leading Wilmington's football program. Moore began instilling his vision on WC last year which led to victories over Earlham and Capital. Previously, he spent time at both Bluffton University and Heidelberg University. Andy Waddle, a 2003 graduate of Wittenberg University, is in his sixth season as Marietta's head coach.

The Offense: Kyle Barrett guides the Wilmington offense as he averages over 220 yards per game through the air along with throwing for nine touchdowns. DJ Chambers and Aaron Johnston have both rushed for over 100 yards on the season while a trio of Quakers – Ace Taylor, Zayne Hart and Luke Richardson – have all caught at least a dozen passes. Richardson leads the team in touchdown receptions with three. Darrien Fields quarterbacks the Pioneers' offense by averaging over 256 yards through the air to go along with a dozen touchdown passes. Andrew Baker has been Fields' top target as the wide receiving has hauled in seven touchdown passes. Tanner Clark is Marietta's leading rusher with an average of 186.2 yards per game.

The Defense: Tre'Quez Parks leads Wilmington defensively with 35 tackles for an average of seven per contest. Weston Trampler, who has 24 tackles on the season, leads the team with four sacks while Parks Dusty Lykins and Tywon Berry all have interceptions for the Quakers. Garrett Davis has 55 tackles for Marietta defensively while a trio of Pioneers – Jake Tracewell, Javi Zaragoza and Khaleel Danzy – have two interceptions on the season.
