WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College football team continues its quest for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) victory as the Fightin' Quakers host Heidelberg University on Saturday. Kickoff from Williams Stadium is slated for 1:30 p.m.
The Teams: Wilmington and Heidelberg. The Quakers are 1-2 overall and 0-2 in OAC competition after falling to Muskingum University 31-24 last weekend. The Student Princes are 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the OAC after falling to Baldwin Wallace University 34-10 last Saturday.
The Coaches: Bryan Moore, a 1999 graduate of Hiram College, begins his second season leading Wilmington's football program. Moore began instilling his vision on WC last year which led to victories over Earlham and Capital. Previously, he spent time at both Bluffton University and Heidelberg University. Scott Donaldson is in his 15th season with the Heidelberg football program including his third as head coach.
The Offense: Kyle Barrett guides the Wilmington offense as he averages over 255 yards per game through the air along with throwing for seven touchdowns. DJ Chambers leads the team in rushing averaging 57.3 yards per game while Malik Sims and Aaron Johnston have both rushed for over 25 yards per game through three games this season. A trio of Quakers – Zayne Hart, Ace Taylor and AJ Hightower – has all caught six or more passes for over 100 yards. Trace Reynolds leads Heidelberg in both passing and rushing as he averages 220.8 yards through the air and 110.3 yards per game on the ground.
The Defense: Tre'Quez Parks leads Wilmington defensively with 21 tackles including one interception. Kyle Ackley, Dusty Lykins, Tavion Bryant and Weston Trampler have all recorded at least 15 tackles while Trampler leads the team with four sacks and tackles for loss. Zachary Blackiston averages 11 tackles per game and leads Heidelberg with 5.5 sacks on the season. Aidan Ammons has 4.5 sacks for the Student Princes.
