WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College football team faces its final road contest of the 2018 season on Saturday as the Fightin' Quakers travel to Bexley for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) matchup with Capital University. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 p.m.
The Teams: Wilmington and JCU. The Quakers are 1-7 overall and 0-7 in OAC competition after falling to No. 9 John Carroll University 66-19 on Saturday. The Crusaders enter the contest with a 1-7 record overall and a 1-6 mark in the OAC after edging rival Otterbein University 23-19 for their first win on Saturday.
The Coaches: Bryan Moore, a 1999 graduate of Hiram College, begins his second season leading Wilmington's football program. Moore began instilling his vision on WC last year which led to victories over Earlham College and Capital University. Previously, he spent time at both Bluffton University and Heidelberg University. Chad Rogosheske, the former Head Coach at his alma mater, Hamline University, is in his third season leading Capital.
The Offense: Kyle Barrett quarterbacks the Wilmington offense averaging 216 yards per game through the air. A pair of freshmen, Ace Taylor and Luke Richardson, has been Barrett's top two targets through eight games. Taylor has caught a team-high 36 reception while Richardson leads the team in receiving yards (474), reception yards per game (59.3) and receiving touchdowns (eight). DJ Chambers leads the Quakers' rushing efforts by averaging nearly 60 yards per game. Thomas Wibbeler leads both Capital and the OAC in passing yards (2,446) and passing yards per game (305.8). Dartavious Stanford has been Wibbeler's favorite target as the two connect for over 100 yards per game along with nine touchdowns.
The Defense: Tre'Quez Parks has made 74 tackles on the season for the Quakers' defensive unit along with forcing two fumbles with one recovery along with an interception. Royon Washington, Tavion Bryant and Kyle Ackley all made over 40 tackles for Wilmington while Weston Trampler has a team-high 4.5 sacks. Michael Lauofo has 74 tackles for the Crusaders while Kole Carter as 50 tackles to go along with a team-high three sacks.
