Stacy, Burnam represent WC at Oiler Opener

FINDLAY- Juniors Lauren Stacy (Bethel, OH/Western Brown) and Pierce Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) of the Wilmington College women's and men's track and field teams competed against a number of Division II and III schools at the Oiler Opener on Friday and Saturday. Over the course of the meet, Burnam set two new school records, while Stacy achieved a personal best that earned her a spot in the national Division III rankings for the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Stacy competed in two events over the course of the meet, the women's shot put and women's weight throw. She finished tenth in the shot put with a put of 12.44 meters and eighth in the weight throw- throwing a distance of 16.35 meters. Stacy's weight throw was a personal best and is currently the eighth longest throw amongst all NCAA Division III throws thus far this season.

  • Burnam competed in the men's heptathlon, finishing sixth overall with 4376 points. His score broke the previous Wilmington College record, also set by Burnam, by over 300 points. Of the seven events of the heptathlon, Burnam finished first in two, the 1000 meter run (2:46.13) and the 60 meter hurdles (8.61). His time in the 60 meter hurdles broke another school record by one one-hundredth of a second. The previous record of 8.62 was co-owned by Josh Richardson and Tyler Caudill and has been standing for 7 years.
