@DubC_XCTR competes at Last Chance

HILLSDALE, Michigan- A few members of the Wilmington College men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Hillsdale College Friday to compete in an unscored Last Chance Meet in hopes of bettering their national rankings to help their chances at qualifying for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship Meet.

Junior Lauren Stacy (Bethel, OH/Western Brown) was the lone member of the women's team to make the trip to compete.  Stacy threw 43.53-meters in the hammer throw, 39.60-meters in the discus throw, and 12.71-meters in the shot put. Unfortunately, none of these throws were further than her previous throws to-date. Her best throws have her ranked 45th (discus throw), 48th (shot put), and 51st (hammer throw) nationally.

Two members of the men's team, junior Kalvin Butts (St. John's, MI/St. John's) and junior Pierce Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) competed over the course of the day.

Butts participated in the men's hammer throw where he threw 50.19-meters. This was his best throw to date and has him ranked 81st, nationally.

Burnam contested the men's 400-meter hurdles and crossed the finish line in 53.87. This was not his best run to date; his best run comes from the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships and has him ranked 18th nationally.

Up next for the Fightin' Quakers: Some members of the team will travel to the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Thursday.
