Green Has Great Debut, Quakers Women's Swimming Falls To Baldwin Wallace

(BEREA, Ohio) - The Wilmington College women's swimming team lost to the Baldwin Wallace University Yellow Jackets Saturday afternoon, 142-63 in their season-opener.

Freshman Lillian Green made a huge impact in her collegiate debut meet. She won the 50 and 100 yard freestyle races. In the 50 free, she snagged first at 26.54, besting Lauren Slife of Baldwin Wallace who finished at 26.96. She had some breathing room in the 100 free, winning with a time of 59.19, which was over two seconds better than second place. She swam a 28.31 in her first lap.

Also having a solid debut was freshman Gabby Kuetemeyer, who finished second in the 100 butterfly and the 100 breaststroke. She finished with a time of 1:05.95 in the 100 fly and with a time of 1:16.78 in the 100 breast. 

Head coach Trip Breen felt good about the first meet, "It was great having the opportunity to compete again. It was fun watching the team race. We are definitely a little rusty, but this was a starting point and gave us a better idea of what we need to focus on as we continue to train."

What's Up Next

The Quakers open up at the Wilmington Natatorium on Friday eveing at 6:00 P.M. against Ohio Northern University.
