A Pair of Top-Five Finishes Highlight Day Three for Women's Swimming at OAC Championships

(AKRON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's swimming team had a solid day three at the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Swimming & Diving Championships on Friday. They finished the day in fifth place overall with 206 points. Three Quakers competed in 'A' finals, while three swimmers competed in 'B' finals.

All three swimmers in the 'A' finals competed in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. Makenna Garn took home another third-place finish with a time of 1:08.06 after a 1:08.35 in the prelims. She just missed out on second place, where John Carroll University's Regan Gunzy finished in 1:07.97. Gabby Kuetemeyer finished just behind Garn in fourth place at 1:08.50 after swimming a 1:09.27 in the prelims. Sophia Mignery was eighth in the event with a time of 1:13.83 after a time of 1:13.02 in the prelims.

Lilly Green finished fourth in her 'B' final in the 200 Yard Freestyle, finishing with a time of 2:05.23 to finish 12th overall. She shaved off over three seconds in the finals after a 2:08.38 in the prelims.

Sydney Overmyer was fifth in the 100 Yard Backstroke 'B' finals and 13th overall with a time of 1:04.61 after a 1:04.48 in the prelims. Brynn Bishop finished eighth in her 'B' final and 16th overall in the 100 Yard Butterfly, swimming to a time of 1:15.90 after a time of 1:17.69 in the prelims.

What's Up Next

The Quakers compete in the final day of the OAC Championships tomorrow. They begin at 10:00 A.M. for prelims followed by a senior celebration ceremony at 5:30 P.M. and finals at 5:45 P.M.
