Quakers Defeat Hiram for First Win of the Season

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's swimming team won their first dual of the season Saturday afternoon at the Wilmington Natatorium over the visiting Hiram College Terriers, 168-86. They are now 1-4 overall this season.

Freshmen Gabby Kuetemeyer, Lilly Green, and Courtney Getter all won multiple events for the Quakers this afternoon, while senior Audrey Bibb and sophomore Alayna Fierman also had event wins for Wilmington.

Kuetemeyer began her day with a win in the 100 Meter Breaststroke. She had a time of 1:22.25, which bested second place by over four seconds. She won the 200 Meter Breaststroke at 2:58.32, which was over 13 seconds better than the runner up. In the 100 Meter Butterfly, she swam a time of 1:14.12, over four second better than second place. She was also a part of the winning 200 Meter Medley Relay team, swimming the third lap, as Kuetemeyer, Getter, Makenna Garn, and Green won the event at 2:22.42, just over two seconds better than their competitors.

Green started the meet off as part of the winning 200 Meter Medley Relay before winning her first individual event, the 50 Meter Freestyle in 29.21, winning by over a second. In the 100 Meter Freestyle, she won at 1:06.40. She ended her day with a win the 200 Meter Freestyle Relay along with Bibb and Sophia Mignery, swimming the final lap for a time of 2:02.94, just under seven seconds better than second place.

Getter was a part of the 200 Meter Medley Relay team that won. She won the 100 Meter Backstroke at 1:18.70, just over a second better than Haven Papineau of Hiram. Getter won the 200 Meter Backstroke at 2:47.51.

Audrey Bibb finished the 200 Meter Freestyle in 2:29.88 for the victory by nearly four seconds and was a member of the winning 200 Meter Freestyle Relay team. Alayna Fierman won the 100 Meter IM in 1:18.65, while second place Elena Rinaldi of Hiram swam a 1:22.30.

Head coach Trip Breen had this to say, "Both teams competed very well today. We had some great swims and I feel like the team is starting to put everything together. We still have a lot of work to do, but I am excited about the opportunity to compete the next two weekends."
