Women's Swimming Lands a Fifth Place Finish at the OAC Championships

(AKRON, Ohio) – It was the final day of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Swimming & Diving Championships for the Wilmington College women's swimming team on Saturday. They finished the event in fifth place out of six teams with a total score of 290 points.

The Quakers were highlighted over the four days by sophomore Makenna Garn, who had a pair of third place finishes and a second-place finish. The second-place finish came tonight in the 200 Yard Breaststroke, where she finished with a time of 2:27.25, shaving exactly two seconds off her prelims time of 2:29.25. This time is a new program record, breaking Michelle Buck's time of 2:30.31 from the 2003-04 season.

Gabby Kuetemeyer also competed in the 'A' finals of the 200 Yard Breaststroke for the Quakers and finished in fourth place with a time of 2:31.47 after a 2:33.57 in prelims.

The Quakers had six swimmers compete in the 1650 Yard Freestyle, which had no prelims. Their best finisher was Adrienne Reynek, who was 17th with a time of 21:10.01.

Wilmington had a pair of 12th place finishes and one 11th place finish in the 'B' finals tonight. The 11th place finish and third place finish in the 'B' finals was from Courtney Getter in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:19.83 after a 2:20.17 in the prelims. Lilly Green was fourth in the 'B' finals and 12th overall in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 56.39, just edging out her 56.45 in the prelims. Alaina Reynek took fourth in the 'B' finals of the 200 Yard Butterfly with her time of 2:39.42 giving her 12th place overall after a 2:41.18 in the prelims.

The team of Sydney Overmyer, Audrey Bibb, Garn, and Green took fifth place in the final event of the meet, the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:48.63 after swimming a time of 4:03.96 in the prelims.

The OAC Championships conclude the Quakers season as they will return to the pool in the fall for the start of the 2024-25 season.
