Women's Swimming Bested by Mount Union in Dual Action Saturday

(ALLIANCE, Ohio) – The Wilmington College women's swimming team was defeated by the University of Mount Union Purple Raiders Saturday afternoon on the road, 166-92. They fall to 3-5 overall this season and 1-3 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).

They finished second in the first event of the dual, the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Sydney Overmyer, Gabby Kuetemeyer, Makenna Garn, and Lilly Green finished with a time of 2:01.56.

Courtney Getter took third for Wilmington in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, with a time of 13:00.03. Kuetemeyer was edged out in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, swimming a time of 1:16.50 finish in second.

Green and Garn finished second and third in the 50 Yard Freestyle, as Green swam a time of 26.69 and Garn finished in 26.93 seconds. Audrey Bibb was next up for Wilmington, finishing third in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:02.29. Overmyer took third in the 200 Yard Backstroke at 2:30.77.

The Quakers first win came from Makenna Garn in the 200 Yard Breaststroke, where she finished in 2:39.63, besting second place by over three seconds. Lilly Green was third in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 6:00.41, just off the mark for second place (5:59.57).

The 100 Yard Butterfly brought home third place for Gabby Kuetemeyer, finishing in 1:09.11. The Quakers swept the 200 Yard IM as Garn won the event in 2:24.29, Kuetemeyer was second at 2:33.04 and Lilly Lentine was third with a time of 2:57.49.

The final event saw the Quakers win the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay in 1:52.79, with the team of Overmyer, Green, Abbi Whitesell, and Audrey Bibb.

Head coach Trip Breen commented on the Quakers performance, "Today we had an opportunity to have a few people to swim some different events and to race a longer format. The team has been training hard and we are a bit fatigued. Everyone is looking forward to continued fine tuning and the beginning of our taper in preparation for the OAC Championship meet."

The Quakers finish up their home duals next Saturday when they welcome the John Carroll University Blue Streaks to the Wilmington Natatorium at 1:00 P.M.
