The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team fell to Franciscan Wednesday in non-conference action, 9-5, on Townsend Field in Williams Stadium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Barons scored the game's first three goals of the game, and never relinquished the lead.
- After missing the last two games with an injury, sophomore Michala Villinger (Newark, OH/Newark) scored back-to-back goals to pull Wilmington to within one. It's the first multi-goal game of her career.
- Franciscan tallied three straight, all on free position shots, to boost its lead back to four.
- Wilmington got a goal from senior Abby Jude (Lancaster, OH/Fairfield Union) on a rebound at the end of the first half, and junior Nikki Northern (Dayton, OH/Chaminade Julienne) opened the second with a goal.
- Senior Stephanie Belz (Gahanna, OH/Lincoln) scored her team-high ninth goal of the season. She has now scored in five of the team's six games.
- Senior Katie Bennett (Newport, OH/Frontier) finished with seven saves on 16 shots.
- Senior Loryn Bryson (Carlisle, OH/Carlisle) and senior Rachel Routzong (Urbana, OH/Urbana) both caused a team-high four turnovers.
- Six different players recorded four ground balls.

Wilmington (1-5) has a quick turnaround, hosting Trine 1 p.m. Friday in non-conference action.
