First multi-goal game for Villinger

The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team fell to Franciscan Wednesday in non-conference action, 9-5, on Townsend Field in Williams Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Franciscan tallied three straight, all on free position shots, to boost its lead back to four.
  • Wilmington got a goal from senior Abby Jude (Lancaster, OH/Fairfield Union) on a rebound at the end of the first half, and junior Nikki Northern (Dayton, OH/Chaminade Julienne) opened the second with a goal.
  • Senior Stephanie Belz (Gahanna, OH/Lincoln) scored her team-high ninth goal of the season. She has now scored in five of the team's six games.
  • Senior Katie Bennett (Newport, OH/Frontier) finished with seven saves on 16 shots.
  • Senior Loryn Bryson (Carlisle, OH/Carlisle) and senior Rachel Routzong (Urbana, OH/Urbana) both caused a team-high four turnovers.
