The Wilmington College women's lacrosse team opened the 2016 with a 21-6 loss to Division II Ursuline Saturday in non-conference action on Townsend Field in Williams Stadium.
RECORDS
- Wilmington falls to 0-1 overall, while Ursuline improves to 1-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Five different players scored for the Fightin' Quakers.
- Ursuline scored the first goal less than one minute into the game, and led 3-0 just 90 seconds into the game.
- Senior Loryn Bryson (Carlisle, OH/Carlisle) was the only Wilmington player with multiple goals, scoring the first and last goals in the second half.
- Senior Stephanie Belz (Gahanna, OH/Lincoln), junior Kiki Hall (Westerville, OH/Central), senior Abby Jude (Lancaster, OH/Fairfield Union) and junior Nikki Northern (Dayton, OH/Chaminade Julienne) all scored.
- Hall won half of Wilmington's 12 draw controls, while sophomore Abby Englehart (Westerville, OH/North) had a team-high two ground balls.
- Ursuline was 20-of-23 in clear attempts, while WC was 17-of-28 in its clear attempts.
- Wilmington committed 13 turnovers, and the Arrows had 11.
- Ursuline was called for three yellow cards.
- Senior Katie Bennett, 0-1 overall, (Newport, OH/Frontier) recorded six saves on 23 shots.

- "We had a lot of good moments and made some good connections," said Wilmington head coach Brett Yenger. "This is the best first game we've had especially starting off with such a challenging opponent. We have a lot of room for improvement, but nothing we can't fix for the next game."
