Softball Hosts Baldwin Wallace on Sunday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College softball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play when the Fightin' Quakers host Baldwin Wallace University (BW) for a doubleheader on Sunday. First pitched is scheduled for 2 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington is an even 8-8 on the season after splitting a series with Ohio Northern University (OUN) on Thursday. The Quakers' 4-2 win over the Polar Bears, the first OAC victory for Wilmington, was the third triumph over ONU in the last decade. The Yellow Jackets stand at 8-10 overall and 2-4 in the OAC after falling in a doubleheader to John Carroll University.

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 11th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. She is the winningest softball coach in school history and is also the College's associate director of athletics. Tom Spencer is in his 14ths season as head softball coach at Baldwin Wallace and carries a 51.2 percent winning percentage during that stretch.

Hitters to Watch: Allison Pierce leads the Quakers with a .391 batting average to go along with 18 hits and eight RBIs. Alecia Kemp has a .362 batting average with 17 hits while Savannah Hooper, who also has 17 hits, has stolen a team-high seven bases. Alexis Boledovic leads the Yellow Jackets with 10 stolen bases while Erica English has a .434 batting average.

Pitchers to Watch: Beth Persicano and Grace Shell, the former OAC Pitcher of the Week, have split the pitching duties for Wilmington as both have pitched over 50 innings and have four wins and between a 3.00 and 4.00 ERA. Sam Mott leads BW in innings pitched (2.83), innings pitched (64.1) and strikeouts (54).

Series History: Wilmington is 7-11 against BW in the last decade including sweeping the Yellow Jackets at the WC Softball Complex in 2016. More information on the series history can be viewed by the visiting link above.
