WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College softball team split an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) series with Baldwin Wallace University (BW) on Sunday, winning game one 6-3 and falling 13-3 in game two in six innings.

In game one, BW scored an unearned run with an RBI-double from Sam Mott in the top of the first inning, but an Allison Pierce RBI-double to right field in the bottom half of the inning. The Yellow Jackets stranded runners on second and third to get out of the inning.

Similar to the first inning, the Fightin' Quakers were able to get runners on second and third base in both the second and third innings, but failed to score. A KenDahl Bowles single opened the fourth inning and a Savannah Hooper double put Wilmington in a familiar position – runners on second and third – with one out. This time, however, the Quakers' offensive delivered as Micalah Hensley plated two runs with a double to right field. A throwing error on the next play scored Hensley to give the hosts a 4-1 advantage.

BW would get a run back in the top of the fifth, but RBI-singles from Bowles and Savannah Hooper padded Wilmington's lead to 6-2. The Yellow Jackets did get score a run and get the tying run to the plate in the seventh, but a groundout to second base gave the Quakers the victory.

Grace Shell improved to 5-3 on the season with her seventh complete game, scattering six hits and allowing just one earned run. Mott took the loss allowing three earned runs on 11 hits in four innings pitched.

Wilmington, despite leaving 14 runners on base, produced 15 hits offensively including a 4-for-5 game with two stolen bases from Savannah Hooper. Bowles, who came into the day 3-for-33 on the season, finished game one 3-for-3 with a hit by pitch and a run scored.

Erica English led BW with a 2-for-4 game in defeat.

The BW offensive came alive in the second game as the Yellow Jackets scored a run in all six innings including a three-run home run from Hailey Owens that made the score 5-1 in the third inning.

Kemp finished 2-for-3 with an RBI in game two as she accounted for one third of Wilmington's hits. Alexic Boledovic and Macy Leach both had three hits for BW.

Wilmington (9-9, 2-5 OAC) heads to Otterbein University for an OAC series on Wednesday.
