WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College softball team hosts Ohio Northern University (ONU) for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) doubleheader on Thursday.

The Series: Weather permitting, the Fightin' Quakers and Polar Bears will begin a two-game series at the WC Softball Complex at 3:30 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington is an even 7-7 overall, but looking for its first OAC victory after falling in a series at John Carroll University on Monday. ONU stands at 17-3 overall and 3-1 in the conference after a pair of five-inning victories over Capital University on Monday.

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 11th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. She is the winningest softball coach in school history and is also the College's associate director of athletics. Jackie (Mangola) Price is in her second season as ONU's head coach after leading the Polar Bears to a 25-13 finish last season.

Hitters to Watch: Allison Pierce leads the Quakers' offense with 16 hits and a .410 batting average to go along with three doubles and seven RBIs. Savannah Hooper has a .326 batting average with a team-high seven stolen bases. Jenna Hollar leads ONU with 38 hits and a .543 batting average. Gabby Stewart has provided 27 RBIs to go along with 10 doubles and a .407 batting average.

Pitchers to Watch: Beth Persicano and Grace Shell, the former OAC Pitcher of the Week, have split the pitching duties for Wilmington as both have pitched over 40 innings and have ERAs between 3.30 and 3.50. Kirsten Lightel is 9-1 and has a 1.41 ERA with 72 strikeouts in just under 70 innings pitched.

Series History: Wilmington is 2-16 against ONU in the last decade. The Polar Bears have won the last nine meetings including a pair of one-run games at Wilmington during the 2016 season.
