Men's Track & Field Places Ninth at OAC Indoor Championships

RESULTS

ADA, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's track & field team finished ninth at the 2019 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships which concluded on Saturday evening.

The University of Mount Union won the title with 180 points followed closely by Otterbein University (166 points) and John Carroll University (151 points). Wilmington, which finished with 12 points, edged Muskingum University by half a point for the ninth-place spot.

In field events, Joe Shuga recorded an 11th-place finish in the shot put throwing a distance of 42' 8".

The Fightin' Quakers placed two in the 3,000-meter run in Evan Whitaker and Cameron Phelps. Whitaker finished 10th in the event with a time of 8:57.18, the fifth-fastest time in the event in program history, while Phelps placed 24th with a time of 9:47.02.

Taton Bertsch represented the Wilmington contingent in middle distance events by placing 12th in the 800-meter run, crossing the finish line in 2:03.13.

Wilmington also had teams compete in both the 800-meter and 1,600-meter relays. The 800-meter relay squad of Adam Knaub, Aaron Koch, Elliot Phillimore and Elorm Dogbey took sixth with a time of 1:34.48 while Dogbey, Knaub and Koch teamed up with Bertsch to claim a fifth-place finish in the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:32.92.

The Quaker will return to Ada next weekend for the Ohio Northern University Last Chance Meet on March 1-2.
