ADA, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's track and field team stands in 10th place after day one of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Ohio Northern University on Friday evening.
In field events, Luke Richardson, who garnered All-OAC honors as a member of the Fightin' Quakers' football team this season, earned a seventh-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 21' ½". Wilmington also placed two in the in the weight throw as Joe Shuga took ninth (48' 5 ¾") and Andrew Pacifico finished 16th (44' 4 ¾").
In sprints, Adam Knaub placed 13th in the 60-meter dash prelims, crossing the finish line in 7.28 seconds to miss the finals of the event by less than a tenth of a second.
In middle distance, Elorm Dogbey barely missed qualifying for the finals of the 500-meter dash, as the freshman placed ninth with a time of 1:10.64.
Wilmington's 4,000-meter distance medley relay squad of Cameron Phelps, Aaron Koch, Taton Bertsch, Evan Whitaker took sixth with a time of 10:58.83.
Day two of competition tomorrow (Saturday) begins with field events at 10 a.m. followed by track events at 2 p.m.
