Quakers Cruise Past Muskies for OAC Win on Wednesday Night

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's soccer team ran past the Muskingum University Fighting Muskies Wednesday night in Williams Stadium, winning 5-1. They are now 3-11-2 overall and 2-5-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).

There were five different goal scorers for the Quakers in this one, as freshman Aidan Barnishin (18th minute), freshman Gavin Morningstar (38th minute), freshman William Jansson (63rd minute), junior Brady Vilvens (65th minute), and freshman Jackson Beske (84th minute) all recorded a tally.

After a shot by Jansson was saved by the Muskies keeper, Barnishin came in to clean up the mess and easily beat him to his right for the first goal of the game. After Muskingum tied the game up with a goal in the 29th minute, Wilmington would retake the lead. The second goal came after a free kick from about 40 yards out was batted down by the Muskies keeper and while he was way out of the net, Morningstar played it off his chest and chipped it over the Muskie defense for the 2-1 lead.

The next goal for the Quakers was a beauty off the left foot of Jansson. After a pass to him on the left side of the field, he worked his way to about the 19-yard line, where he sent in a strike, going upper 90 into the right corner of the net for the 3-1 lead. It didn't take long for their next goal to come as a through ball was threaded from Kaden Young through the Muskie defenders to Brady Vilvens who did the rest to make it 4-1. Their final goal came from Beske, who hit the top left post of the net to make it a 5-1 final.
