Baseball Looks for Bounce-Back Series at Baldwin Wallace

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team looks to bounce back from a seven-game losing streak when the Fightin' Quakers travel to Baldwin Wallace University (BW) for a two-game Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) series on Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and BW. The Quakers are 8-12 overall and looking for their first OAC victory after falling to John Carroll University in a doubleheader yesterday (Thursday). The Yellow Jackets are 15-7 and 1-3 in the OAC and most recently lost to Denison University 13-7.

The Coaches: Dan Cleaver is in his sixth season with the Quakers baseball team including the previous four seasons have been as head coach. Brian Harrison is in his eighth season leading the Yellow Jackets' baseball program and has won nearly 180 games during that span.

Hitters to Watch: Nick Silvis, Josh Chua and Josh Chua all have over 20 hits for Wilmington with Chua leading the team in RBIs (17) and stolen bases (8). Silvis' .354 batting average is a team-high .354. Jake Hyatt has hit six doubles, two home runs and has driven in13 runs. Alex Marcum has a .382 batting average for BW with a team-high 24 RBIs. Dudley Taw has hit six doubles and six home runs.

Pitchers to Watch: Jared Ferenchak is Wilmington's top pitcher with two victories and a 3.71 earned run average with two complete games pitched. Joey Hollback leads the team with 22 strikeouts in 25.2 innings pitched while Alec Robinette is 3-0 on the season with a save. Danny Cody and Evan Lovick both have two wins for the Yellow Jackets and K/9's of over 11.00.

Series History: Wilmington is 2-14-1 against BW in the last decade. The Quakers did win the last game played in Berea, however, a 6-5 victory on April 16, 2016. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the links above.
