Baseball Continues OAC Play With Otterbein on Tuesday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington Fightin' Quakers baseball team looks to face off against Otterbein University in an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) doubleheader on Tuesday beginning at 1 p.m.

The Series: A doubleheader will be played on Tuesday afternoon with the first game beginning 1 p.m. and the night cap at 4 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Otterbein. Wilmington is coming off a rough stretch of losses and looks to find a way to switch things around and get its first OAC win after two losses against Baldwin Wallace making the Fightin' Quakers 8-16 on the season. Otterbein looks to continue on its stretch of winning games after a win over Heidelberg making the Cardinals 14-8 on the season.

Coaches: Dan Cleaver is in his sixth season with the Quakers baseball team including the previous four seasons have been as head coach. George Powell is entering his 19th season as head coach of the Otterbein baseball program. Powell has been one of the more successful coaches in the OAC throughout the past two decades.

Hitters to Watch: Nick Silvis and Josh Chua. Silvis is leading the team with a .337 batting average out of the leadoff spot as well as a team high 31 hits and 11 RBIs. Chua is hitting .286 on the season as well as leading the team in doubles with eight so far this season as well as RBIs with 17. Ben Beachy is the hot hitter for the Cardinals as he is hitting .397 and is leading the team in hits (31), runs (23), HRs (4), RBIs (24) and looks to continue his hot bat into this upcoming series.

Pitchers to Watch: Junior Joey Hollback and Jared Ferenchak both are pitching well for the Quakers as Hollback leads the Quakers with 22 strike outs through 25.2 innings pitched and has an ERA 4.91. Ferenchak has two wins under his belt with an ERA at 3.71 through 26.2 innings. Stevie Yuran has made six appearances for the Cardinals; four of them have been starts as Yuran is just 1-2 so far through 26 innings. Yuran leads the team with a 1.93 ERA as a starter this season.

Series History: The Cardinals have gotten the best of the Fightin' Quakers as Wilmington is just 4-15 since the 2008–09 season and 1-9 in the last 10 matchups. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the links above.
