Baseball Hosts Wittenberg for Single Non-Conference Game Thursday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College baseball team steps out of Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play for a single game against Wittenberg University on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Wittenberg. The Fightin' Quakers are 9-23 overall after falling in OAC play to Marietta College in a doubleheader on Sunday and the University of Mount Union in two games on Monday. The Tigers are 10-20 overall and are coming off a North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) series split with Kenyon College.

Coaches: Dan Cleaver is in his sixth season with the Quakers baseball team including the previous four seasons have been as head coach. Brian McGee is in his second year as head coach at Wittenberg after a nine-year stint at NCAA Division II Lake Erie College.

Hitters to Watch: Nick Silvis, Josh Chua and Luke Kleindl all have over a .300 batting average for the Quakers offense. Chua leads the squad in doubles (13), RBIs (22) runs scored (20) and stolen bases (9) while Silvis has a team-high 38 hits. Jake Hyatt has also driven in 22 RBIs for Wilmington. Five Tigers have at least 15 RBIs including Matt Baker with 36 hits and eight stolen bases as well as Jake Siefert with five home runs.

Pitchers to Watch: Joey Hollback has been Wilmington's most effective pitcher with a 4.25 ERA in 42.1 innings pitched. Hollback, who is coming off a quality start at Mount Union yesterday (Monday). Jarett Trautman has also pitched over 40 innings and recently pitched his first complete game victory in a victory at Capital University last Wednesday   

First Time Around: Wittenberg defeated Wilmington 14-10 on March 26 in Springfield.
