UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's swimming team won four events in a 156-95 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) dual meet loss at John Carroll University on Saturday afternoon. The meet was the Fightin' Quakers' final tuneup before host the 2019 OAC Swimming and Diving Championships on Feb. 14-16.

"Both teams continue to swim well as we finish the bulk of our seasonal training," Head Women's Swimming Coach Trip Breen said. "I am pleased with the progress we've made and look forward to continuing to work hard as the conference championships approach."

Margaret Hover won the 500-yard freestyle (5:49.42) as well as finishing second in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:01.11) to record season-best times in both events. Macki Leon also won an event and finished runner-up in another, placing first in the 100-yard IM (1:06.86) and taking second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.70). Maryn Herring was the other Quaker to win an individual event – the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:07.16.

Wilmington picked up a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay as Hover, Hannah Davis, Herring and Leon teamed up to post a time of 1:49.67. The Quaker team of Ellyse Herr, Rachel O'Donnell, Laura Swinehart and Kassidy Rogers finished a little over 10 seconds behind in second place.

O'Donnell (6:20.51 in the 500-yard freestyle), Davis (1:11.15 in the 100-yard butterfly) and Rogers (1:14.03 in the 100-yard IM) earned runner-up individuals finishes.

"It's now time to fine tune some things as we begin resting for the OAC Championships," said Breen.

Those OAC Championships will be held at the University of Akron.
