Women's Swimming to Dual Ohio Northern Friday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's swimming team travels to Ohio Northern University (ONU) for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) dual meet at 7 p.m. on Friday.

The Teams: Wilmington and ONU. The Fightin' Quakers opened up their 2018 season with a close dual meet loss to Baldwin Wallace University last Saturday. The Polar Bears finished third at the Kenyon College Relays last Friday.

The Coaches: Trip Breen is in his 20th season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's swimming teams. Breen has been named Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Men's Coach of the Year four times, the most recent in the 2016-17 season. Austin Veltman, a graduate of Hope College, is in his first season as ONU's head swimming and diving coach.

Who to Watch: Members of the Wilmington 200-meter freestyle relay – Macki Leon, Maryn Herring, Margaret Hoover and Hannah Davis – all had impressive performances in the season-opener. Leon won three events including beating the field by over seven seconds in the 100-meter IM. Davis finishes second in the 50-meter freestyle while Hover finished runner-up in the 200-meter freestyle. Herring, who is coming off an injury, took second in the 100-meter butterfly.
