Spring Senior Salute - Men's Lacrosse's Kelton Gray

WILMINGTON, Ohio - Throughout the coming months, the Wilmington College athletics department will be highlighting senior student-athletes who had their senior seasons cut short due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Today's senior salute is Kelton Gray. A three-year member of the program and also a student assistant coach with the women's basketball team, Gray appeared in 30 career games with 18 starts. He picked up 39 ground balls and caused 19 turnovers as a member of the Fightin' Quakers' back line.

What is your major? Mathematics and Education with a High School Concentration

What is your favorite class at Wilmington College? - Modern Geometries with Liz Haynes-Wiget

What is your favorite memory with the men's lacrosse program? - My favorite memory was this whole school year with my teammates. We have a large freshman and senior class and everyone connected immediately. That connection made it fun to go out and battle with them every day.

What are your plans after graduation? - I will pursue a degree in sports administration or sports operations. The plan is to continue a career in athletics at the collegiate level.

Do you see yourself returning to Wilmington to compete in 2021? - I wish I could come back to compete. I am in love with Wilmington College. The people, the professors and the atmosphere is tremendous. I would do anything to stay, but a sixth year of college doesn't make financial sense for me.

What is your message to underclassmen on the impact of COVID-19? - Memories last a lifetime. Enjoy your time with your teammates and your pursuit of a common goal. Take time to stop in the moment and realize where you are. You've made it. You're a college athlete. Enjoy the highs and reflect on the lows. Always challenge yourself to do better. Challenge your teammates to do better, but be on the same page. Treat everyday as game day. When you do so, you won't reflect on your time, but instead enjoy the memories. Those moments could be taken at any time.
