Briana Clark Joins Athletics Department as Associate Athletic Director

WILMINGTON, Ohio - Wilmington College Senior Director of Athletics Bill Wilson has announced the hiring of Briana Clark as the department's Associate Athletic Director. She will begin her tenure on August 1.

"We are happy to have Briana [Clark] join our team at Wilmington College," said Wilson. "She has a vast array of experience in collegiate athletics as a student-athlete, assistant coach, head coach and administrator. Briana will be an essential asset to our department, and I am excited to work with her."

Clark comes to Wilmington from Brevard College (North Carolina) where she has served as Director of Athletics Compliance and Academic Success for the last academic year. Clark was responsible for institutional control of NCAA compliance for the Tornados' 16 varsity athletic programs as well as two sub-varsity sports. Additionally, she monitored the systems that assist in complying with all institutional, conference and NCAA rules and regulations that govern intercollegiate athletic operations. Some of Clark's main duties included, but were not limited to the following: organizing monthly staff meetings, coordinating academic services to provide tutoring for student-athletes, certifying student-athlete eligibility and assisting the athletic director with the department's Title IX and gender equity efforts.

"I am honored to be stepping into this role under the exceptional guidance and leadership of Bill Wilson along with the opportunity to continue building on the foundation of Wilmington College Athletics," said Clark. "I am anxious to embrace this amazing community and to help contribute to the success of our student-athletes, coaches and staff."

Prior to Brevard, Clark spent 15 years coaching women's basketball including 11 as a head coach. She most recently was the head coach at Mars Hill University (North Carolina) for three seasons. Clark managed a roster of 18 student-athletes each season, competed in a highly-competitive NCAA Division II conference and coached four All-Conference players.

Before Mars Hill, Clark had an eight-year stint as head coach at Spartanburg Methodist College (South Carolina), a junior college, from 2011-19. During Clark's tenure, every member of the women's basketball program were successfully placed to four-year institutions to further their academic careers. Additionally, all of Clark's student-athletes graduated. On the court, Spartanburg Methodist won six region championships and carried an overall record of 121-76. She mentored 21 Academic All-Americans, 21 All-Region selections and four All-Americans.

Clark was an assistant coach for four years before becoming a head coach, at both Montreat College (North Carolina) and her alma mater, Brevard. A four-year member of the program from 2003-07, Clark played for Wilson and went on to serve as his assistant coach for the 2007-08 campaign. She graduated cum laude from Brevard with a degree in exercise science and went on to earn a master's degree in athletic administration from Arkansas State University in 2020.
