Volleyball's 2023 Campaign Right Around the Corner

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College volleyball team is eager to begin its 2023 campaign, which starts just over two weeks from today in Granville, Ohio.

Under the direction of first-year Head Coach Aly Wiseman, the Quakers will look to build upon a 2022 season that saw the team win multiple Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) matches. One of those victories was a four-set triumph at Heidelberg University, the first win for WC over the Student Princes in program history.

The season begins against Denison University on Sept. 1 with contests against Franklin College (Indiana) and Washington & Jefferson College (Pennsylvania) the following day. The Quakers then host Central State University in the home-opener that also features Community Night on Wednesday, Sept. 6. WC stays within the friendly confines of Fred Raizk Arena for matches against Blackburn College (Illinois), Oglethorpe University (Georgia) and W&J as part of the Quaker Classic on Sept. 8-9.

Wilmington then hits the road for a match at Kenyon College on Sept. 12 with a trip to Western Pennsylvania to follow on the weekend. There, the Quakers will face host Allegheny College followed by Hiram College on Sept. 15 and the University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg and Fredonia University on Sept. 16. The road swing finishes with trips to Mount St. Joseph University on Sept. 20 and to Anderson University (Indiana) on Sept. 27. The month closes with the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) opener against John Carroll University on Sept. 30 that is part of a tri-match with Bluffton University.

As the month flips to October, Wilmington will be on the road for 3-of-4 conference matches including: at Capital University on Oct. 4, at Otterbein University on Oct. 11 and at Marietta College on Oct. 13. The line home game during that stretch is a Dig Pink match with Baldwin Wallace University on Oct. 7.

In the later part of the month, the Quakers will be at Hermann Court more often than not with a Faculty Appreciation Night contest against Ohio Northern University on Oct. 18, a date with the Fighting Muskies of Muskingum University on Oct. 25. A road contest at the University of Mount Union is sandwiched in between on Oct. 21 with the regular season finale and Senior Night contest against Heidelberg University slated for Oct. 28.
