NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced the All-Region honorees for the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field season.

Two Wilmington College track and field athletes, senior Antone Truss (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs) and junior Pierce Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond), were amongst the 935 student-athletes nationally to earn all-region distinction.

In order to be considered for this honor, an individual must either be ranked in the top-five of an individual event, in the region according to final Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) data or be part of a top-three relay team for the 2017 Outdoor Track and Field season.

"Pierce and Antone were strong all season," said Wilmington head coach Ron Combs. "The Great Lakes Region is one of the most competitive Division III regions in the country. It is very difficult to earn all-region in the Great Lakes; you pretty much have to be a National qualifier. Pierce and Antone were both very dedicated to their sport/events and it shows week in and week out in the way they compete."

It marks the third all-region selection for Truss and second for Burnam. Both athletes also earned all-region recognition during the indoor season.

Truss, who will compete Friday in the NCAA Division III Outdoor championships, earned all-region in the high jump. He is the top jumper in the region and eighth nationally entering the championships.

Burnam, who was edged out by one spot for the outdoor championships, recorded the fifth fastest time in the 400-meter hurdles and was 21st nationally. He was all-region in the heptathlon during indoor season.
