Burnam, Truss named USTFCCCA Indoor All-Region

NEW ORLEANS, LA- Pierce Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) and Antone Truss (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs), two of Wilmington College's junior track and field team members were named US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Indoor Track and Field All-Region honorees, the association announced on March 6, 2017.

In order to be considered for this honor, an individual must either be ranked in the top-five of an individual event, in the region according to final Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS) data or be part of a top-three relay team for the 2016-2017 Indoor Track and Field season.

This is the second-straight year Truss has received this honor for his efforts in the high jump. Of all the Great Lakes Region high jumpers, Truss is ranked first, clearing a height of 2.07-meters. This clearance ranks him eighth nationally and qualified him to compete in the 2017 NCAA DIII Indoor Track and Field Championship this weekend.

For Burnam, this year marks the first year he has earned the distinction. His score of 4461 points in the heptathlon, ranks him second overall in the event in the Great Lakes Region.

"Antone and Pierce had great indoor seasons," says head coach Ron Combs. "They were both very consistent in their events. I believe Antone is the first athlete we have had that has finished first in the region in his event, and Pierce was close finishing second in the heptathlon."
