@DubC_XCTR men third at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD- The Wilmington College men's track and field team competed in an invitational hosted by Muskingum University on Saturday. Of the 8 competing teams, the Fightin' Quakers finished third with 105 points, only 4 points behind the second-place team.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Junior Pierce Burnam (New Richmond, OH/New Richmond) was the first of the Fightin' Quakers to turn in a top-five finish over the course of the afternoon. Burnam snagged second in the finals of the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.83.

  • Burnam then went on to compete in the 400-meter hurdles where he finished first with a time of 54.27. He was joined on the podium by freshman teammate Kaner Butler (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs) who finished the race in 57.75 for third-place, and junior teammate Eric Flynn, Jr. (Cleveland, OH/Central Catholic) who earned fourth by crossing the finish line in 58.75.

  • Flynn, Burnam, and Butler, were then joined by freshman Aaron Koch for a 4x100-meter relay. The quartet earned first place with a time of 45.23. The same quartet competed, then, in the 4x400-meter relay and finished second with a personal best time of 3:25.79.

  • Junior Antone Truss (Yellow Springs, OH/Yellow Springs) proved, once again, that he is a force to be reckoned with on the high jump. Truss earned first place, clearing a height of 1.98-meters.

  • Two Fightin' Quakers broke into the top-five of the triple jump this afternoon, Truss, with a jump of 12.50-meters earned second, and Butler, with a jump of 12.07-meters was awarded fourth.

  • Senior Linden Ayoki (Cincinnati, OH/LaSalle) threw the discus 41.79-meters to earn second-place for the team. In the same event, junior Kalvin Butts (St. John's, MI/St. John's) earned fifth-place from a toss of 40.09-meters.

  • Butts then placed second in the hammer throw with a personal best distance of 47.78-meters.

  • Junior Alex Tillapaugh (Wilmington, OH/Wickenburg) was the lone Fightin' Quaker to compete in the javelin throw, where he tied for second with a throw of 42.53-meters.
