WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team fell victim to league-leading Capital University as the Crusaders defeated the Fightin' Quakers 24-5 on Senior Night at Williams Stadium on Wednesday.

Wilmington started off strong defensively not allowing Capital to get a shot off anywhere within 20 feet of the goal, until almost the twelve minute mark. At the 12:03 mark, Jack Scharner for Capital, broke through to score back-to-back goals in under two minutes. Wilmington's Jadon Flannery answered just a couple minutes later, however, it would prove to be the only goal for the Quakers that quarter. The Crusaders went to score 10 more times led by Junior CJ Hughes' five goals and three assists.

Capital's surge in the first quarter proved to be took much to overcome.  Wilmington's leaders would all find the back of the net at some point over the next three quarters, as Austin Young, Connor Judge, Zac Chucta and Mike Smith all make their mark one last time at Williams Stadium this season.

Although the two teams tied in turnovers at 14, the Crusaders edged the Quakers in all other major stats - shots (58-18), ground balls (32-12), and face-off (27-5). Saves however, went to Wilmington as Reed Beavers.

The Quakers are now 2-12 overall and 0-8 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) with the loss. Wilmington will face Marietta College on the road at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
