GREENVILLE, Pennsylvania – The Wilmington College men's lacrosse drop its first of four away games as Thiel College bested the Fightin' Quakers 18-9 on Wednesday evening.

Austin Young scored first for the Quakers, with an assist from Andrew Miller, as both teams battled back and forth and trading goals until Thiel scored three in a row in the last two minutes to pull ahead 5-3 in the first quarter and 4-2 in the second led by junior midfielder John Smiley's four goals in the first half. Thiel went on to outscore Wilmington 7-1 in the third quarter to really open things up for the Tomcats. Penalties seem to hurt the Quakers as four of the next five goals scored came at a man-up advantage for the Tomcats. The two teams would trade goals back and forth again after that, as junior attacker, Connor Judge, would score two more before the game concluded.

Judge and Zac Chucta would lead Wilmington in scoring as both scored three goals apiece on nine and seven shots respectively. Miller would also get involved as he scored twice with two assists. Dylan Waskiewicz led Thiel with five goals.

The Fightin' Quakers are 1-3 on the year under Head Coach Jeff Arneson, who coached at Thiel for seven seasons, an are half way through the non-conference scshedule for 2019. Wilmington continues its road swing at Washington & Jefferson College on Saturday. First face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
