WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College women's cross country team looks to race in a familiar place on Saturday. After racing in Shelbyville, Indiana early in the season, the Quakers head back for the Great Lakes Regional Championships.
The Race: The women's 6,000-meter race will start at noon, shortly after the men's race.
The Region: The region consists of 30-plus teams in which the Quakers will be competing against. In 2019, the last Great Lakes Regional Championship, John Carroll took home the team victory on the women's side.
The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 26th season as head cross country coach at Wilmington College. A 1993 graduate of Wilmington, Combs was a member of the only cross country team to win a conference title in school history. Also the head track & field coach at the College, Combs led the Fightin' Quakers to two top-10 finishes nationally with a sixth place finish at the 2002 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships and a seventh place mark at the 2004 Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships.
The Squad: The Quakers are coming off of the conference meet two weeks ago. Milena Wahl finished with all-conference honors while Bella Stevens and Savannah Rhodes led close behind. This group looks to lead the squad again this weekend.
